I see people telling their stories through body language and facial expressions. The mere act of being alive provides me daily experiences of marvel at simple things such as breathtaking shadows cast by trees in mid-morning light...or empathy with the woman whose hopeful face belies the despondence of her stooped sholders. I paint what I see, what I feel, and what I believe. I use textures and techniques that intrigue me and compliment the subject. I use colors that support the intended mood. I have no esoteric philosophy or underlying statement. It is what it is. It is, for me, the rapture (and sometimes pain) of creation. |
